Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
SwiftTenant is a property management web application operated by Harter Holdings LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and login details.
- Tenant and lease data: property, unit, lease terms, charges, payments, work orders, and related records entered by property managers or tenants.
- Payment data: payments are processed by Stripe. SwiftTenant does not store full card numbers or bank account numbers. We keep only payment records such as amount, date, and status.
- Documents: files you or your property manager upload, such as leases, invoices, and photos.
- Connected bank account data (optional): if a landlord or property manager connects a business bank account through Plaid, we receive account names, masked account numbers, balances, and transaction history. See "Bank account connections (Plaid)" below.
Google Sign-In
If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive only your name and email address from Google. We use them solely to match you to an existing SwiftTenant account and sign you in. We do not access your contacts, files, calendar, or any other Google data.
Bank account connections (Plaid)
Landlords and property managers may optionally connect their own business bank accounts to SwiftTenant through Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"). This feature is used only by landlord and property manager users; tenants' bank accounts are not connected through this feature.
- What we receive: account names, masked account numbers (for example, the last four digits), balances, and transaction history for the accounts you choose to connect.
- How we use it: only to provide SwiftTenant features for your own organization, such as the account register, matching transactions to rent, bills, and mortgages, reconciliation, and cash-flow forecasting.
- Read-only access: SwiftTenant cannot move money from connected accounts. Your bank login credentials are entered directly with Plaid; SwiftTenant never receives or stores them.
- No selling or advertising: we do not sell connected bank data or use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers needed to run SwiftTenant, as described below.
- Security: bank data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and Plaid access tokens are additionally encrypted.
- Disconnecting: you can disconnect a bank account at any time. Disconnecting revokes our access through Plaid and deletes the stored access token. Imported transactions are deleted on request, or within 90 days after your SwiftTenant account is closed, unless we are required by law to keep them.
By connecting an account, you acknowledge that Plaid's collection and use of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
We use your email address to send sign-in links, password resets, invoices, receipts, and service notices related to your account.
How we share information
We never sell your data. We share it only with service providers that help us run SwiftTenant: Microsoft Azure (hosting and storage), Stripe (payment processing), Plaid (optional bank account connections), and Google (optional sign-in). We may also disclose information if required by law.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and encrypted at rest in our database, passwords are stored as salted hashes, and access is limited by account role. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Data retention and deletion
We keep information as long as your account is active or as needed to meet legal, accounting, and lease record requirements. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us; we will delete it unless we are required to keep it. For connected bank accounts, disconnecting an account revokes access through Plaid and deletes the stored access token, and imported bank transactions are deleted on request or within 90 days after account closure, unless the law requires us to keep them.
